In August of 2006, Francesc Grimalt and Sergio
Caballero set up 4Kilos Wines, a company
dedicated to the production of wines which
reflect the subtle nuances of grape, climate, and soil of the island of Mallorca. From the early days they have been supported by local winegrowers, which is important when attempting to make wine with a strong identity and respect for tradition.

In many vineyards native vegetation cover is used to obtain more concentrated grapes, better ground porosity and increased microbial population. The vineyards are in different parts of the north and south of Mallorca, the reason being that they do not
belong to any particular D.O. They are planted mostly on Cal Vermell soils, a popular name used to describe a local type of clay. The varieties that are grown Callet, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot, Monastrell and Syrah.
