6 Christmas White Wines

6 winter white wines to help warm up for Christmas:

1) Cantayano La Seca - Cantalapiedras Viticultores: 100% Verdejo with wild yeast fermentation and aged on the lees for 8 months, bottled unfiltered and unfined this is a full bodied Verdejo with ripe peach and sweet herbs. Organic wine maker.

2) Remordimiento Blanco - Bodega Cerrón: 100% Chardonnay aged in large French and Hungarian Oak, this wine delivers a Chablis style minerality combined with a smoky and toasty undertone and lingering creamy mouthful. Incredible value Chardonnay. Organic and biodynamic viticulture. 

3) Hervé Villemade 'Cheverny' - A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay the wine delivers sweet citrus and yellow flowers with notes of tomato leaf. Crisp and grassy with a saline, creamy moutful. Organic winery.

4) UBE Miraflores Cota 45 - 100% Palomino. From the same grape that makers Sherry, comes this medium bodied, gastronomic white aged in Sherry vats. Simple fruit profile of green apple and sweet citrus with a striking savoury finish. A perfect food wine. 

5) Domaine Chaume-Arnaud Cotes du Rhone Blanc - 40% Marsanne, 40% Roussanne with 20% Viognier. Complex on nose and palate with peach, pear, flowery notes, exotic fruits, candied lemons, nougat, gingerbread and spice with a lushly textured mouthfeel. Bright fresh acidity and a mineral finish. Superb value for money. Would be great with scallops, crab, grilled fish or any white meats. Biodynamic wine maker. 

6) Gavi di Gavi, Giordano Lombardo; 100% Cortese from Gavi, Piedmont. Aromatic nose of peach, lemon and white flowers. Intensely mineral on the palate with concentrated citrus and almond flavours and a long, dry finish. Organic and Biodynamic producer.
